For Parents

  • Parents of Lambda Chi Alpha Brothers

At Alpha Pi Zeta, we encourage the parents of our brothers to be familiar with our organization and to feel comfortable asking questions and contacting our advisors, house mother or officers.  If you would like to register to be on this site, you can do so under the Register link in the top right hand corner. Once we verify you as a parent, you will be able to participate in the parent forum and we can communicate important dates, deadlines and events to you directly.  If you do not want to register for the site, the following questions may answer some questions you may have.

    1.  Dues and Billing.  For 2010, the chapter charges a flat fee of $500.00 to each brother during Fall, Winter and Spring to cover dues. Dues payments are expected in full by the first day of the academic quarter.  After 15 days of non-payment, a brother will be put on financial probation and asked to appear before the Executive Committee of the chapter.  The chapter will work with our brothers to create payment plans to assist in paying dues.  Bills are sent out to the parents of our brothers around 30 days prior to the start of an academic term.  We are set up through our accountant, Donna Weeden to accept as payment checks or major credit cards.

    2.  Housing.  The Lambda Chi Alpha Chapter house is the newest and finest fraternity house on campus. We are part of University Housing and presently our capacity is 31 live-in brothers. According to DU policy, Freshman cannot live in the House, but all sophmores who are in good standing with the chapter and the DU can move into the house if there are sufficient available spaces.  This meets the DU sophomore live-in requirement.  Lambda Chi and DU employ a house mother, Jane Bryce.  Jane resides in the chapter house during the school year and she is a great resource for our brothers and parents alike.  Jane's apartment is on the main floor of the house.  Parents are given her contact information in the Fall mailing. Housing and meal service costs are set annually by the Denver Lambda Chi Housing Corporation and DU.  The combination of Room and Board is consistent with what is charged by DU for the upperclassmen residence halls.

    3.  Meals.  The chapter uses an independent catering firm for meals. We have just hired a new service.  The meail service includes Lunch Monday - Friday and Dinner Sunday - Thursday.  A variety of breakfast items, fruit and snacks are available daily as well.  The caterer shops daily for the freshest produce, dairy and meats and she cooks all meals from scratch.  She only works for our chapter and the Delta Gamma Sorority.  Joint meals and socials are held as part of the food program.  Brothers living in the house are mandated to be on the food program. Out of house brothers can purchase either lunch or dinner plans.

    4.  Advisors.  Alpha Pi Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha is advised by a group of alumni who have more than 60 combined years advising this chapter. Our alumni are involved directly with the chapter and work to support officers of the chapter in their programming, conduct hearings and in helping improve overall operations. Parents are provided contact information for our advisors and are encouraged to get to know them.
